It's Summertime in the Grove!

I have a love-hate relationship with Summer! On the one hand, I love the freedom of hanging out with my best guy and finding new ways to bond, harvesting my hard worked garden, and on the other, the heat can overwhelm me and be destructive to my garden! Despite its overwhelming qualities, I have found ways to adjust - hopefully some of them will work for you too!

Enjoy the Harvest

Gardening is a passion of mine. I always talk about the theraputic effects of the entire process and its role in grounding me and reducing my anxiety. So, it is no surprise that the most fulfilling and exciting part of this process is harvesting the fruit!

That process looks different depending on the day, time, and need.

Fruit & Herbs

The first harvest from my spring planting and perennials were a variety of herbs and berries.
Beginning in late May into early June, I've begun harvesting Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, mojito mint, lavender, Catnip, Lemon Balm and tomatoes.

Reflective Space

One of my favorite things to do in early mornings or late afternoons in summer is to sit in this space and reflect. Harvest my thoughts and experiences from this seasons planting and tending process - usually the precursor to reflecting on my current innerworkings.

Gift with a Personal Touch

I hold a special desire to give to those who I love and cherish. One of the ways that I do this - that I think is extra special, is by handpicking herbs, fruits and vegetables from my garden and gifting a few favorite herbs and produce to friends and adding a personal handwritten note for added personal affect.

Keep it Growing

One of my favorite things to harvest now is mojito mint. Though I also produce spearmint and regular mint, mojito mint is a favorite. To keep it growing, I regularly harvest and freeze the mint for freshness in ice cubes for use in a variety of refreshments.
